Feng Shui Bedroom: Bringing Harmony To Your Life

By Lynn Lee

Feng Shui has been used for thousands of years to improve the quality of life and bring harmony, among many other things, into the home. You can use Feng Shui in any area that you would like but many people use it in the bedroom.

Feng Shui is pronounced ‘Fung Shway’ and can be used to help you sleep better and enhance your love life. If this sounds like something you would like to do to your bedroom, here are a few ‘rules’ that you need to consider to help you achieve a feng shui bedroom.

Fengshui Tip Number One

The bed is the most important piece of furniture in the bedroom. Your bed should be in a command position. This means that your bed should be in complete view of the door but not in the direct line of the door. You also need to leave plenty of room on both side of the bed for each partner to get in and out of bed with ease.

Also, never have your bed in the position where your feet are facing the door. This is very bad Feng Shui. This position is called the death position because the dead are usually carried out by their feet.

Fengshui Tip Number Two

It is best if you choose to have your bedroom in the farthest room from the door. This is said to give the mind more security because there is that much more distance between anything coming in the door and you sleeping in bed.

It is extremely bad Feng Shui to have you bedroom facing the front door. However, sometimes we have no real choice where the bedroom is located but you can still use other tips to Feng Shui your bedroom.

Fengshui Tip Number Three

Remove the clutter. Any kind of clutter that reaches over your head that can make you feel uneasy therefore you need to clean anything that should not be piled up on your dresser or side tables. The clutter will prevent the Chi from flowing naturally as it should.

Anything in your bedroom that has to do with other things that do not have to do with sleep or the bedroom should be taken out. For example if you have work related items in your room, they need to be taken out. Computers, televisions and other electronics do not belong in the bedroom either.

These are three of the best tips that can be given for those who want to turn their bedrooms into a Feng Shui paradise. Not only will Feng Shui improve your life but using Feng Shui in the bedroom can help improve your sleep habits so that you wake up feeling more rested and fully regenerated.

There are many other things you need to consider when if you intend create a feng shui bedroom. Make sure you do as much research as you can before you begin. You need to know what you are doing and how to do it before you get started. You do not have to be a believer for Feng Shui to work wonders in your life.

How Parabond Hardwood Floor Polish Can Help You?

By William I. Neil

Floors are the base or the vast sea of attraction in a room. As the floors are the only part of the room that covers the maximum area and are far more observable than any other part or any other furniture. It is a must to keep our floors neat and tidy as they are repeatedly stepped over by people all round the clock. Cleaning the floors must be done as a daily schedule so as to keep them shining for several years. Apart from cleaning them daily, we must polish them at least once in six month. Whether it is a wooden floor or a cemented floor, one must have a proper eye on tear or shear of floors as they can adversely affect the beauty of the room or hall.

Using any polish is not at all advisable. Only reputed ones must be used so as they do not cost you later in your life. I would advice you to use some of the reputed ones like this. I personally have felt that it is the best polish so far. Some years ago I experienced a heavy non-stop rain and there was water in our house. After 3-4 days when the water was gone and the rain stopped, I observed that all my floor polish has been ruined by water. I used to use some cheap floor polish. But after that one of my friends advised me to use it and since then my floors are always shining and completely polished.

After so many years of my use I can comment that parabond floor polish is simple fabulous. It has got the ability to put a shine on the floors and it looks as if the floors are completely new! The house where I used to live had some dogs, which scratched the floor and made me polish every month. I put 3 coats on the floor and it really looked great and it lasted for more days than my previous paint. Two coats are more than sufficient. Not to mislead, but one coat also gives the same brilliant shine. (It just wears off sooner). My kitchen is almost polished with parabond floor polish as we have a lot of water spreading on the floors with a continuous tariff. The only catch is that the dog scratches do show up more with the shine.

Last but not the least I want to tell to all the readers that guests do come to our home at least 4-5 times in a week on an average but we never dare to think, what left an impression in their mind after visiting our house. We must rethink about furniture, show-piece in our house. Do they really leave an impression on our guests? The answer is loud and clear ‘No’ as because furniture and show pieces are almost available in each and every house. The only obsession that differs is some thing unique. That touches the soul of our guests and they remember it for a pretty long time in their life. That unique quality is only obtained from ‘Parabond Hardwood Floor Polish’.

Wall Waterproofing Methods

By Allison Ryan

If waterproofing is to be applied, it should, of course, be done before back filling. There are various methods used, depending largely upon local conditions. While applying a coating to a wall, it is well to put it on the outside.

Water is thus prevented from entering the wall, and water pressure tends to force the coating into tighter contact. If the water proofing is required for a bathroom, perhaps around a bathtub or other bathroom fixture, the technique is a bit more complex.

This may consist of a half-inch coating of Portland cement mortar (mixed in the proportion of 1 sack of Portland cement to 2 cubic feet of clean, well-graded sand, plus finely divided materials, such as hydrated lime or diatomaceous silica), or a plastic cement applied to the interior surface of the wall with a trowel.

For bathroom remodeling, the walls surrounding the steam shower or steam room should be thoroughly scraped and cleaned with sharp edged instruments and a wire brush and then dampened before the mortar is applied.

It is best to cover the surface with a bituminous coating if worse conditions than mere dampness exist. This may consist of a simple coating of coal-tar pitch or asphalt, or may be a built-up covering of alternate layers of the bituminous material and tar paper.

These coatings are often used alone on new walls or in cases where the walls are in such good condition that they do not require the plaster coat. If walls are rough, however, like brick, stone, or concrete block, they usually require a plaster coat before being waterproofed.

In applying cold bituminous coatings, first apply a priming coat of the same bitumen thinned with gasoline or with kerosene to the consistency of paint. This mixture is applied cold with a mop or large brush and is intended to soak into the pores and provide a good bond for the top coating.

The ordinary bituminous coatings are usually applied hot and swabbed on with a roofing mop to a thickness of at least one-eighth inch. Several coats may be applied if necessary, and dull spots, which indicate absorption, should be touched up until a uniform shiny appearance is produced.

There have been recent developments in the application of such materials, one of which is the use of compressed air to “shoot” the material upon the surface in much the same manner as that employed in paint spraying.

Bituminous layers, or membranes, are similar to ordinary bituminous coatings, except that they are much thicker and consist of alternate layers of bituminous material and tar paper. The membranes should be used in extremely wet conditions or where there is water pressure against the walls from a spring or other source. The number of layers to be applied depends on the conditions to be overcome.

More coatings may be needed to protect the walls of a steam room and a steam sauna, but for a dry sauna (or infrared) you really won’t need much at all.
